Teddy Boy & Junk

These are two of Macca's BEST things (IMO)--love the storylines and the pure Macca-type melodies. I WISH they could've BOTH been on the White Album instead of part of the post-fab era solo output. I can just imagine these ditties w/ the Martin or Spector treatment. They would have been tasty I think.

"This is the story of a boy named Ted, if mother said, 'Ted be good', he would."

Back in 1959 and 1960, the then-unnamed Beatles were walking around as 'Teddy Boys.'  Leather jackets, slicked back hair, duck tail, swagger and spit.

Macca's song sound like Ted is a f**.  I think it should have been a tribute to the Teddy Boys.

Truth be told, I like the song, too, and have included in old McCartney compilations.  But, in the end, it doesn't stand up.  Had it gotten a Beatle treatment with George Martin (let's face it - George Martin could take a nothing song and make it sound phoemonenal), sure it could have been magic.

However...

Both Songs are better than Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Honey Pie and with the right production would have fitted great on The White Album and Abbey Road ,Paul should have pushed them harder as Beatles offerings ?

junk is my favorite McCartney solo offering and it would definitely have been a better addition to the white album than honey pie

Junk would have worked well on the White Album, shame it didn't make the
final cut! ??)
Both songs are very good & i love them. Junk is one of my all time fav Macca
songs, such a beautiful melody. The Beatles did a great bootleg version of Teddy Boy in January
69 & i'm surprised it didn't make it on Abbey Road. but of course lot's of tensions were
growing between the group.

better than what was on Anthology 3, where Lennon finally broke down and mocked the song?
