Hamish Stuart

Is it the kiss of death to be in McCartney's backing band? This is what Hamish Stuart does now:

He runs this modest pub - The Three Mariners - in Faversham, Kent.

Hamish is lucky his pubs still open , we've now lost five where i live in the past year .
Can't see once he's left Paul's band it's any of Paul's responsibility to find him work in music ?
Wonder if they do veggie meals (wink1)

What I meant was Paul's famously deep pockets! Watch out Rusty and Abe, you'll be playing in Letterman's house band next!!

^^^^^Think i read maybe on here that Paul only pays the going rate ?
People must know he's a tight git where money is concerned , but still they want to play with him .
Was'nt Hamish in the Averge White Band ? maybe he should get back together with them .

He's apparently got a band with Jim Mullen - a guitarist I've seen probably 50 times, and ex AWB. The band play in his pub sometimes, wouldn't mind seeing that. And I'll be near there in August.

I hated Hamish Stuart when he played with Paul. I thought his voice was horrible and just didnt fit at all.

I wish him the best of luck though.

He speaks highly of you!  ;) I see what you mean though, odd choice. Loved AWB.

People will accept "going rate", people will play for free to play with people like Paul McCartney. Don't see that he doesn't pay lots makes him a skin flint. He's not dragging them by the nose hairs into the studio or on stage!

I think running a pub is a fine vocation, I'm happy for him. Remember, it's not like these guys have an accounting or astrophysics background to fall back on (except Brian May!), what are they going to do when the gigs dry up and the money for the recording studio does too?

All in all, it looks like he's landed on his feet more than a lot of people who played in famous bands in the 60s and 70s.

Yeah, i'm sure my opinion of him keeps him up at night.

I also liked the AWB.
