Ram live?
« on: June 10, 2007, 06:53:11 AM »

Ram is my favourite McCartney album, and seems to hold a special place in a lot of hearts. But why does he never play any of it live? And has he ever? I can find absolutely nothing on any live albums or bootlegs.

He did "Smile Away" during the 1972-1973 Wings tour

He did Too Many People on his 2005 tour, & it is found on the Space Within Us
DVD that was released last year.
I hope he tries to play any songs from Ram on his next tour :-/
The Back Seat of my Car would be a good live one i think.

I'm suprised he played that. Isn't there general opinion that that was directed at Lennon?

Just part of it was directed at Lennon. The part "Too many people preaching practices. Don't let em tell you what you wanna be!"

I'm not entirely sure if their is any other part in that song that is about Lennon.

Lennon seemed to believe that
"That was your first mistake / You took your lucky break and broke it in two"
was another reference ... an obscure one! ::)

Just what I was going to say. As he's played it live recently then it obviously wasn't directed at him, but the fact remains that Lennon, and therefore Yoko thought so.

Yeah, he played 'Eat at home' during Wings university tour and I believe the Wings over Europe(1972) tour too.

Macca said that maybe the "party lines" was the only one that was directly linked to Lennon/Ono.

It would be great to hear Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey live maybe coupled with Mr Bellemy.
On The Space Within US DVD, McCartney introduces Too Many People as a song for the Wings fans , im never sure how Paul views Ram does he see it as a Wings album of sorts ? Uncle Albert also appears on Wings Greatest.
Ive always found this a bit confussing as i see it seperate to Wings ? :)

I've uploaded it here:

He also makes a reference to this line (The Back Seat Of My Car):
"We believe that we can't be wrong"

I don't think Paul realises how appreciated Ram is as an album! :-/
