^ I used to hate the sound of the drums on Carpenters records. Apparently they used to mike each drum up individually, then each one was allocated it's own track!

IIRC, Karen played drums on the first few albums, but Richard eventually took over and handed the job over to studio musicians. Karen was very talented, but I think Richard really held her back.

I know, but I just can't help liking that dumb song. At least it's the ONLY KISS song I like. Really, it is.

How about:

Aw, that's sweet that it makes you cry. It's pretty good. Gotta love Sammy Davis Jr- he's a great performer. Bob Dylan does an awful version of that song, BTW. Avoid it.

This one is not exactly embarrassing, but people give me weird looks if they hear me listening to it or singing it. That's Danny Elfman for ya.

I have the Bob Dylan version on my ipod actually. Also Sammy's and the Nitty Gritty Dirtband's version. Which I also love. But yeah, Bob's version is hard to take.

Also, Oingo Boingo IS embarrassing. Even in the 80's they were embarrassing. Unless you were:

 ;)

BTW, I can totally tell those aren't authentic eighties teens. For some reason.

Thankfully I've never actually bought anything embarrassing, but I've certainly heard plenty, especially in that awful decade, the '70s. The charts were full of one-hit wonders and novely acts . This is surely one of the worst:-

I insist. But I will admit to having bought something embarrassing for a girlfriend, which stupidly I didn't listen to first. I'd only just met her and she said she was into jazz. I kind of realized later that what she really meant was a few things she'd heard on the radio by Acker Bilk and Chris Barber. Anyway I bought her a John Coltrane record, on the recommendation of someone else who really was into jazz. Unfortunately, what he was into was avant-garde jazz. When we listened to it together it was nothing but squeaks and burps. It was appalling. I think her only comment was "Hmm interesting". As for me, I just came out in a hot flush. It was a bad start. Despite obviously having something in common, such as a hatred of John Coltrane, we were unable to get our relationship off the ground.
