Got To Get You Into My Life - Anthology 2
« on: June 20, 2009, 12:30:37 AM »

Hi guys. Just a thought about this early version. I reckon it's better than the released one! Not that the Revolver take is not a good song, but I remember getting Anthology 2 and this was my fave song on the whole series. I couldn't work out why they didn't release this version. The accapella and harmonies are tops. What d'ya all think?

Oh, I agree totally!!! 8) It has a totally different structure...
Tomorrow Never Knows from Anthology is also great!
Song And Your Bird Can Sing from Anthology is crazy - fantastic!
(Imagine if they released it in 1966.!)  :o
I think that they should include all the three mentioned songs
in Anthology versions on future releases of Revolver! (Should
we write an petition?)
The same thing is with Only A Northern Song - Anthology
version is fantastic. The version from Yellow Submarine soundtrack
has - to much noise...
Across The Universe is charming...
And you can say that Penny Lane versions are
the same - BUT - I always miss that Anthology "suitable ending" with a trumpet on
a official release! :-)

It just came to my mind that you could make a great album of
Antholgy tracks, give it to somebody who just started to listen the Beatles
and doesn't know much about them - and say to them that the Anthology versions
are official releases! ;D
One would be surprised if he finds out the original versions on
official albums!

I like the Anthology version too, but not quite as much as the album release. I mean, the Revolver version is an absolute classic! I think very few people would agree the Anthology version is better.

As for me, my two favorite anthology songs are the Helter Sketler Take 2, and Harrison's Not Guilty. The Anthology's Helter Skelter is just so amazing. It's a completely different take on the song, and it just has that unpolished "jam" feel to it that makes it just rock. And Not Guilty is in my opinion one of George's best guitar songs as a Beatle! He absolutely rips and it's a shame they spent over a hundred takes on the song but just couldn't get it quite right.

the anthology version is great - i especially like the lennon nonsense frog vocals as it fades out

re the released version - truth be told this is a motown 'send-up'
