It is true, The Beatles were a unit and neither one of the 4 would have made it without the other 3.

To be honest: I think they would've made it without Ringo. Without any of the other three would've been a lot harder.

They would have made it, definitely, but would they have been as successful? Part of the group's appeal was that there was a Beatle for everyone. Also, Ringo was the most "working-class", "regular-guy" type, and therefore was the most approachable.

What does Paul say on Anthology about it? That they were good before Ringo, but when he joined something just happened? I don't remember, but I think he was right. There was something about the chemistry the four of them had. I wouldn't put down Ring's contributions. Just because he wasn't a great songwriter doesn't mean he didn't bring something important to the band. And if it wasn't for him, their movies wouldn't have been half as funny!

Paul is a better songwriter. While John was off getting numb to drugs he was writing classics like Yesterday. The truth is the would have been famous just with Paul and John, but they wouldnt have been the Beatles.

I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we pass the audition.

Why is the better songwriter thread in the John Lennon section? Someone trying to bias the results? :D

Yes. I had the latest vote. Only because they could get even then. So let's close this thread and poll now and let them be even forever. :D
