Bit off message, but I listened to this for the first time and thought wow! I've grown very cynical about the Beatles lately but it reminded just how good they were. Though I still can't listen to Octopuses Garden and Maxwell's Silver Hammer, and either Because or Sun King have to go. Bit too much of a good thing.
And I wondered how a derivitave and simple a song like She's So Heavy sounds so good. And I think that has to go to George Martin. He's wrapped the whole album in a round warm sound. His arrangements never overpower the songs. His touch is so subtle, even when there are clear moments a lesser man could have layed it on thick. It's hard to think of an equivalent of this in 1969 (think how rough The Stones Albums sound, and isn't Pink Floyd a bit muddy? ). It sounds like it was made in 1973.
The man is a genius.
