These are the songs I already have:

Tiny Dancer- Elton John
Something There- (from Beauty and the Beast)
Amazing Grace (Live)- Joan Baez
Turn! Turn! Turn!- The Byrds
Over the Rainbow- Eva Cassidy
Georgia on my Mind- Ray Charles
Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton
Moonlight Sonata- Beethoven
Mad World- Gary Jules
Vincent (Starry Starry Night)- Don Mclean
Love Hurts- Nazareth
Hallelujah- Leonard Cohen
What a Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong
Desiderata- Les Crane

I'm going to download the ones you guys said... this is gonna be great. :) I think I'll make a copy for my dad, too.

You might consider Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris version of "Love Hurts."

Also consider "Pale Blue Eyes" by Velvet Underground.

Glad to see Leonard Cohen and Don McLean made the cut.   Byrds too.

I make a strong plug for "Thirteen" by Big Star.

Yeah, that's pretty. I also think Mother is very pretty. Even if it is extremely cynical. Oh, and Good Bye Blue Sky.

I was just about to say Nobody Home. Its a beautiful song as is part 2 of Pigs On The Wing. God, I could come up with dozens of vintage Floyd for that list!

I think Unchained Melody is a beautiful song- or maybe I've been just watching Ghost too many times.

Yes its pretty, but are you aware it is actually supposed to be a f*ck you to an ex? Most people I know don't? Not a nice thing at all.

Saw something on Vh1 about Green Day. It's weird because Good Riddance was one of my elementary school graduation songs and also one of the most popular wedding songs pf the 90s. Nobody bothers to actually listen and figure it's not a song for a moment of joy and bliss.

I don't know if this was posted, but I think the songs After the Gold Rush and Philadelphia by Neil Young are beautiful. Especially the way he sings them.

That would p*ss me off if I was Billie Joe. It would make me feel like no one is listening, they just like it for whats on the surface. Most people are like that with Green Day. I have friends who don't even realize that Holiday is about Bush or that Blood, Sex, And Booze is about sadomasochism.
