Beatles In June Mojo Mag
« on: June 02, 2006, 12:06:50 PM »

Very big article on The Beatles in June's issue which is dedicated to Revolver (two months early!): the free CD has cover versions of all the Revolver tracks, there's an interview with Macca, plus celebs pick their top 101 Beatle tracks of all time - A Day In The Life is number one.

Nock up a Beatle article, stick a photo on the front and sell 10,000 more issues. Nice summer bonuses all-round for the Mojo people and everybody is happy.

Well...

Well...

Master's got a point there. But still an indication of the popularity of The Beatles today. Everybody's riding on their back.

Everybody is fascinated by them because they've never quite realised what they're listening to.

Well...

A Paul McCartney interview, a Beatles song top 101 (compiled by Oasis, Yoko Ono, Brian Wilson, The Byrds, Ozzy, RHCP, U2 and many others), a free CD with cover versions of every song on the Revolver album AND a big Beatles poster on thick paper for less that 4 pounds? Not exactly a cheap and easy way to cash in...

Maybe not cheap but it's easy, the group sell.

The fact alone that they compiled a CD of 15 different artists that each recorded an exclusive cover of one of the song off Revolver especially for this CD makes this a not very easy project...

Ok, ok, maybe not cheap and not easy but they wouldn't do that unless they knew they'd get their money back. And magazines with the group on the front of them sell one hell of a load more issues than those that don't.

I still don't see the problem.

If they'd put Arctic Monkeys or Franz Ferdinand or Kaiser Chiefs or Editors or Pete Doherty or whatever on the cover, they would've sold just as much copies. I think we should be glad that magazines still want to make special issues around a band that called it quits 36 years ago...

I want to get that magazine. How long will it be on sale and how much does it cost in Canadian (roughly)?
