Hey HG. Where in NJ are you from? I lived in Ridgewood for a few years as a teenager.

That's a handy feature.

Not that far from my old stomping ground. Looks a nice part of NJ. Lots of bush and greenery.

Hi everybody! :)

I'm Sébastien aka VBMCollector. I'm a passionate Beatles fan (but love all kinds of music) who collect UK, French and german vinyls since 16 years.

Glad to be here and to be able to learn always more on what is my passion for almost 30 years, thanks to my father, Beatles fan from the very beginning!

When I was approximately 7-8 years old, he made me discover the Double Fantasy album, by John. Shortly after, I saw a Beatles vinyl box next to its record player. This is the way everything began.

My father had already begun to collect Beatles vinyls in the Sixties, and I continued with him when I began to work.

Today, I share my passion with the fans and collectors around me, continuing to collect and learning about the work of the Fab'4.

See you soon! ;)

Sébastien

Welcome to the Forum, Sébastien. The Beatles sound especially good on vinyl.  How do you compare their LPs to their CD catalog?

Hi, Normandie and Hello Goodbye, thanks to you ! :)

I agree with you that the Beatles sound especially good on vinyl.

Having begun to listen to them on this support, I waited for a long time before deciding to buy Fab ' 4 albums on CD. With the exception of Live At The BBC, Anthologies, Love, etc, all that I possess of the group is vinyl.

It was only with the arrival of the remasters I invested. I bought the two boxes (mono and stereo).

I've always found the vinyl sound more musical, more natural and with more precise trebles, than CD's. Especially with the first CD's, like the 1987 releases, for example. Abbey Road has a very bad sound on the 1987 CD. This has been corrected with the 2009 remaster. Same with Please Please Me. On this particular song, I was happy to find again, and with precision, the groove on Ringo’s drums. Very Nice !

I shall also add that it still misses many things, in the Beatles' CD catalog, as for example the Live At The Hollywood Bowl, which was still never reissued. ;)

Right.  It's a good collection of their 1964 and 1965 performances.  I bought that LP when it was released.  It's still a favorite.

Yeah, I hope this LP will one day be reissued with bonus and great packaging (vinyl replica, why not). :)
