Vandals lose their head-- or Ringo's
« on: April 10, 2008, 06:54:47 PM »

Vandals have beheaded Ringo's topiary likeness in Liverpool. The "Fab Foliage" was unveiled only 2 weeks ago after 18 months of preparation. The press are competing for clever headlines over the incident, including "Vandals turn Ringo Starr from mop top to no top at all" and "Ringo's Privet Parts Removed, Again". The latter is in reference to this remark: "Last time someone squashed [his] head.

I think the whole topiary twig thing looks  really amateurish , if anything losing Ringo's head makes it more interesting to my eyes .

Yeah, it's the sort of thing local councilors sponsor when they want 30 seconds of air time on the local news. Here they do the same thing by lobbying for money to put up another traffic light somewhere in their districts.

LOL! The teary sentiment around here is really getting to me. Please stop!

Ringo must learn to defend himself. He's always been rotten at those neck chops.

I wonder how they are going to fix it  ? maybe they could just have a book at the side for the people of Liverpool to send Ringo a heart felt message lol

"Bandmates John, Paul and George were unharmed."   ;D
Poor Ringo!  That wasn't a very smart move on his part making that comment.  Even if it is how he really feels.  I'm sure he's kicking himself in the butt over that one!

Topiary Twig, redux:  ;D

The Fab Three: Topiary Beatles missing drummer Ringo after it's removed for repairs following vandalism
Last updated at 16:38 19 May 2008

A foliage sculpture of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr which was beheaded by vandals has been taken away to be repaired leaving the Fab Four looking more like the Fab Three.

The figure, which took 18 months to cultivate as part of a topiary tribute to the Fab Four, was unveiled at Liverpool's South Parkway train station in March this year. But Ringo's figure was targeted by vandals soon after the unveiling of the artwork.

The vandalism was blamed on the 67-year-old drummer being derided in Liverpool after he made disparaging comments on a Jonathan Ross' chat show saying that he "missed nothing" about the city.

It's expected that Ringo will grow a new head in six to eight weeks.

Wish I could do that. But do you suppose they have a Jimmy Nicol growing in a pot somewhere they could use while Ringo's in the greenhouse?  ;D

If they can't find Jimmy growing anywhere, I'm sure Pete Best wouldn't mind sitting in!   :)

"Pete Best forever; Ringo never!" Maybe that's what the head chopping was all about- still- in the first place. (teeth1)

Tommy Moore is not happy about this gig. He's still missing teeth from the last time he played with the Beatles, and now there's a wood chipper involved...

That wood chipper bit is sure to draw a letter of protest from these guys, too:

Something about inciting malicious assaults upon shrubbery, I imagine.
