Shutter
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, despite all the bad reviews. It wasn't as good as I hope, but still a lot better than most critics said.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall: This movie was very funny, and the acting was great. I was especially impressed by Kristen Bell's performance. It was a little bit rauncy, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it.
Tropic Thunder: Okay, this movie was not what I was expecting AT ALL. It was hilarious! I thought it was going to be more of a celebration of Holywood, but it really turned out to be a twisted yet accurate satire. I would highly recommend it for movie buffs.

Rented a DVD of 'The Flock' with Richard Gere. The gimmicks introduced by the producer/director almost made it unwatchable, but it was quite a seedy film with a place where all sorts of perversions take place, including chopping off the hands and feet of girls and, in one case, stripping off her face. It's like these new type horror movies which dwell on mutilation and torture, particularly of groups of young girls. There must be something wrong with people who can enjoy these - but they must be popular because they keep on making additional Saw and Hotel movies. I prefer the type of fantasy horror, such as the Hammer movies. I watched The Devil Rides Out again the other night and really enjoyed it

That movie made me suspicious of everything!

Lol

Do you think it's based on real events?

What happens when some of your favourite movies are re-made? How do they compare with the original. There are various trends in Hollywood, one is to make a feature film from a former television series, another is to film a remake. I haven't bothered to see the remake of 'The Wicker Man', but I bet it isn't as good as the original. The remake of 'Get Carter' was bad, the remake of 'The Italian Job' was a completely different film, using only the title, the remake of 'The Lady Killers' was abominable. At the moment they seem to be re-making every science fiction movie that was released in the Fifties.

Agree very much. But let me turn the question around: can anybody think of a movie of which the remake was better than the original? There must be some, but I'm stumped.

The Amityville Horror.

The original was bad, the remake also wasn't great but it did have some of the creepiest, most chilling horror scenes I've ever seen.

The techniques shown in the film are certainly employed in politics and during the elections because nobody is going to give up power just like that...

Maybe it's an unfair comparison - but 'Ben Hur'!

Went to see the new Bond "Quantum Of Solace" last night really enjoyed it , not quit as good as "Casino Royale" but still a good Bond film .
Daniel Craig continues to grow into the role of Bond , he's very good , hope he doe's a few more .

Casino Royale (2006) is much better than the spoof version from  1967 Geoff ?

I thought the remake of Cape Fear with Robert De Niro far superior to the wooden acting of the original with Robert Mitchum.

Talking of Bond, wasn't Sean Connery's 'Never Say Never Again' a re-make of one of his previous Bond outings - and how do you think it compared with the original?

It's a remake of Thunderball.

I think Thunderball was better , but "Never Say Never Again" is not a bad film , it's as good in my opinion as some of the offical Bond films ?
It's better than "A View To A kill " for a start , dear old Roger was way to old for the Bond role by then .
EON should buy the film and make it an offical Bond ?

Okay, that blows me out of the water completely. It's light years ahead of the original.  ;D
