Thinking back to that day, the shock is still just as strong.

I turned 40 last year and it really brought home just how much John Lennon achieved in such a short space of time - and he even took a five year break to bring up his son.

The lyrics of In My Life are always more poignant on this day.

John was a very unique, talented, and just all-around amazing person. He's done so much for the world and has had such an impact on all our lives with his music. I couldn't live without it! We all still love and miss you so much, John.

John is still changing lives and making the world a brighter place even though he is no longer with us. John never ceases to lift me up whenever I am down, even though he died years before I was born. His music and legacy live on.

Thanks, John, for being such a huge part of my life, and for giving one of the greatest gifts one can give - the gift of your music. You'll never be forgotten. RIP.

I listened to "War Is Over" in honor of him on Saturday. It's one of my favorites, and it still resonates with today's society. I hope that by 2010 I can be in Central Park for the vigil.
