Why not? Because you think that if they won't be exposed to homosexuals they won't become homosexual themselves? Well, unfortionately for you that's not how it works.

And I'm affraid it's hard for me to tolerate homophobia. Cause let's see what we have here: we're talking about people, most of whom are good people and never did anything to harm anyone, but somehow are being looked down upon and called names, and not being given the same rights as everyone else, only because of the way they were born... Hmmm... Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Homophobia is to me pretty much equal to racism.

Gays are fine. I've no problem with that. What I don't like is the 'It's cool to like gays cos I'm so politically correct' attitude that patronises people who have no concerns either way. You know things like 'I've got a gay friend too, look how liberal and free I am, you know nothing.'
I think that is more insulting to gays than homophobics. At least gays know where they stand with homophobics and are not paraded round as a fashion accessories or 'cool' aquaintances.'
There has been this stereotype in the last 10 yrs of how 'cool and bohemian' it is to have a gay friend. What a load of toss. Just like people cos you like them. Thats it.

We are in a world now, where if someone wants to be gay, they can be. So Let it be. (Pardon the beatle pun.)
What about the rights of the poor, starving 3rd world countries that are still being charged astronomical amounts, something like 100million pounds a day in debt repayments? I'd like to sort out their rights first. I'm sure most of them are'nt worrying about what gay rights they have got. This world has far more pressing matters to deal with...............Get over it people!!!!!! lol

But to come back to the whole "criticizing the USA" thing... Another reason why I sometimes react a bit harsh to subjects like these is because they're hardly subjects anymore in the Netherlands... The discussions they're having now in the USA, about things like abortion, gay rights, soft drug legalization and euthanasia for instance, those were all discussions that we had here 20-30 years ago, but now they're all long settled and pretty much everyone's fine with the current situation. That's why "we" sometimes find it odd that there are still heated discussions going on about this subject in a civilized country like the USA. Especially if you hear these conservative christians talking about how civilization will end if abortion, gay marriage, euthanasia and soft drugs will be legalized, while we already know that's just not true at all.

It's not that I like homosexuals because I desperately want to be politically correct... It's because I strongly believe in the "treat people the way you want to be treated" thing. And imagine that people would tell you you're going to hell, that you're sick in the head and that you can't be around their children, just because of who you love and sleep with...

Life is already pretty f*cking tough as it is, and I find it sickening when people want to make it even tougher for other people for no other reason than that their lifestyle simply doesn't fit in their own way of thinking.

I'm not against homophobia because of an image or PC thing or anything like that, but just because homophobia really makes me sick.

I would also say that to all you guys who get off on watching two girls kiss and then are freaking out when two guys kiss... well... all I can say is----screw you.

And gays should be allowed to get married because we are in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ALL should have EQUAL rights.

However, I don't think they should say that they are being married under God or through the eyes of God (they say it many ways in weddings) because I believe that God does not approve.  However, I have no problem being friends with people who are gay though. It's not my right to judge them or their acts, only God's.
