Hullo, my name is Maxine (people call me Maggie or Mickey from Mickey Mouse for some reason, though  ;D) my Beatles obsession started when I heard Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (one of my favorites now), I had never ever heard anything like that in my life before and I kept thinking "God, what kind of sounds are those??". I got really interested and decided to listen to Please Please Me and got completely hooked! Right after I heard it I went to the record store and bought it. When I got home I must have played it over 20 times a day! As time went on I listened to every single one of their albums, started developing Beatlemania, watched their movies and bought books about them. Nowadays I'm known as the Beatles girl in school! A label I'm very proud of ^^. One of the reasons I love the Beatles so much is also that after a while I found out I've had them around all my life! From when I lived in Gibraltar as a little girl and playing songs like Yesterday, Let it Be and Get Back on guitar in school! Anyways that's basically my little story of how I discovered the Beatles and I really hope I get to know some of you fellow Beatlemaniacs  :) I'm 14 years old and I'm from Stockholm, Sweden by the way :)! Hope I haven't blabbered on as I usually do, haha. Peace and Love!

Hi Maxine! Welcome aboard. You will find mostly Beatles fans in here so I guess this is the place to be. lol  Never mind your blabbering, talk and post away as much as you like.

Sings: 'Her name was Maxine, she called herself Maggie, but everyone knew her as Mickey.' ;D

I started hearing Beatles music from the time I was born. My parents often played their albums while I was growing up. Additionally, when I was in the first grade, my teacher played Beatles albums for us while we did our work, and she would also have us sit on the rug, and would play her guitar, and teach us Beatles songs (I remember learning Octopus' Garden and Yellow Submarine, in particular). I however, did not take much notice of the Beatles at that time. Sadly. Reason being, those were my Elvis years. From the age of 3 on, I was madly in love with Elvis. When I was 9, that all changed. I spent much of my time that year (1990) in the hospital, going through some major life-threatening stuff (which luckily, I made it through). When I got out of the hospital, I had lost my way musically (partly understandable after what I'd been through), and got into a band that was popular at the time. My parents noticed how musically lost I had become, and cured me by giving me Abbey Road for Christmas that year. I was hooked from the very first note, and have not looked back. I've been a die-hard Beatles fan for 21 years now. ;D
Peace, Love, and Beatles!

I heard the Beatles were coming to America and were playing on Ed Sullivan's Show. I was out with my brothers and parents Sunday eve 1964. All I wanted to do was get home to watch this new group called The Beatles! From that point, February, 1964, I was hooked and now have the great fortune of playing in a cover band of the greatest music ever produced. ;yes

Well, my dad is a Beatles listener but I didn't get it from him, strangely. I get everything from him, it seems. :) It was a day in school, we had music class. It was about The Beatles. I already liked them since my dad listened to them, so I was excited for the last upcoming 4 weeks of Beatles. Everyday I started listening to more from them and in about half a year it was my new favourite band. :)
No, actually, we're just good friends.

Wow, I wish my school had Beatles day in music class! You must have had a very cool music teacher.
I am posting on an internet forum, therefore my opinion is fact.

Our music teacher also gave us dance lessons. One of the songs we always had to dance to was 'When I'm Sixty Four'. We had some really cute girls in our class so I've got good memories of that song. ;)

I just started getting into The Beatles a couple years ago and I'm very glad I did.Well I really hope my story I'm about to tell doesn't sound like a sob story,it's not meant to be at all.My dad left me when I was 3 and I haven't heard of or seen him since,I'm 14 now.One of the only things I know about him is that his favorite band are The Beatles.Whenever a Beatles song would come on the radio my mom would say "Your father loves The Beatles" and I'd always feel sad while listening to a Beatles song knowing he loves them more then he'll ever love me.Ever since I was 12 I can't help but think of my dad all the time now,I decided I'd start listening to The Beatles so I could feel like I was connected to him somehow. That's how I got into The Beatles but it's certainly not the reason I love them.I love The Beatles because their music is very beautiful and great and they'll always be my favoritest band. The funny thing is I never think of my dad while listening to The Beatles,I'm happy he was the one that got me motivated to listen to this beautiful band though...If only we could enjoy The Beatles together and talk about them,I love fantisizing about that.I hope you liked the way I discovered The Beatles :)

Hello Goodbye

Jema, I think what you just wrote was one of the most beautiful reasons for "getting into" The Beatles I have ever seen.
