Hi Mr. Harry - Bobber (one of the senior guys on this forum) was able to find a reference to Derry (or is it Howie?) and the Seniors on your awesome site http://www.mersey-beat.net/ . Apparently they cut a record even before the Beatles ... do you have any recollection of how they looked/sounded on stage? Were they the first Liverpool group to go to Hamburg? Did they sound like the Beatles (and all the other groups?) did in the pre-1963 era?

And would you happen by any small chance to know if their recording is still available to hear?

Thanks so much Bill ... I hope you don't get tired of (niggled about?!) all our saying (I'm maybe guiltier than most) how really fortunate we are to have the chance to hear/speak/post with you ...

Cheers!

P.S. Heard from Mr. Bobber you're on vacation  - hope you had a great one! If you're ever in TX let me know (I live in San Antonio, known for it's exotic Margaritas!)!
I love John,
I love Paul,
And George and Ringo,
I love them all!

a translated page on howie....
Howie Casey (* 12 July 1937) is an English saxophonist. He learned saxophone because of its preference for jazz.

From 1955 to 1958 it was with the military.

it began 1959 with Derry Wilkie in the group of Derry & the of senior, starting from 1961 Howie Casey & the of senior. In February 1962 its first album twist RK the Top came out. They went to Hamburg, where they arose in the emperor cellar.

Hello all,
I have all the Derry/Howie Casey & the Seniors recordings on my computer and would like to share. Is there a way to do this here or would individual emails be more the fashion?

Hi Benzadrine Beat. Are these bootlegs or the real thing? If they're bootlegs you can upload them to somewhere like MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/ and then post a link in the bootleg forum here: http://www.dmbeatles.com/forums/b-bootlegs_related/

Thank You Blue Meanie!
I'll give that a go tonight when I get home tonight.

Derry Wilkie was always one of my favourite artists in Liverpool. He was warm-hearted, immensely reliable and friendly

All you've got to do is choose love.  That's how I live it now.  I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden.  I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007<br />

The tapes were lost some years later in London.

It seems to me you have lost a lot on the way, Bill! Great story by the way!

Great Story about Derry, Mr. Harry!
I'll post some of the Howie/Derry/Seniors music for those who have not had a chance before to listen! As a side note follow this link to see and hear about a project that envolved Howie Casey and some old Friends (about two years ago now). There is video, music and photos available!

Yes, because of all the moves. During one office move 250 stories, poems and drawings by John Lennon were lost. When I left Liverpool I left a cuboard 8ft high full of items regarding the Beatles. Then there were the letters Paul used to send me from their travels. When I moved from Charing Cross road in London I had to leave 4,000 photographs behind, when I had an office in Westbourne Grove, the people mistook by four foot high box of items as rubbish and threw it out - three collections of Mersey Beat, photos, tape recordings and diaries. The items I've lost over the years could probably amount to a couple of million pounds.
