^^^^ True Penny Lane not all families are close in the same way , but i still think it's strange Diana Ross was named in the will .
Just hope MJ's children don't get caught up in the media circus , years away from the spotlight is what they need , at least until there adults i would say .

Is it true that Catholic Church wants to canonize Michael? And can it do so if he is a muslim?

^I think that might just be a bad joke going around. Think about the connection.

I think it's an old rock 'n' roll song , Wanda Jackson springs to mind ?

^^^^ Yes i like MJ's version better  :)
I'm rediscovering the Jackson 5 period Sandra , they recorded some great music , considering it was'nt a funtime for MJ during that period the songs themseleves have a lot of fun and warmth to them ?
Mind you i think you can also hear sadness in some of the MJ solo songs from that Motown era ?

A classic moment:

Jackson 5 mototown 25

This is still my favorite though. Love the choreography! Especially at the beginning.
The Jackson Five - I Want You Back

On a side note, today one of my students wanted to know if Michael Jackson was a boy or a girl. They're not familiar with his music at all. When I hear them talking it's about his skin or his strange appearance. They come up with the most outrageous stuff. One kid was going around saying he had a disease that was eating his flesh. It's a shame really because a lot of their music was so good but his persona is overshadowing all of his musical accomplishments. At least with the younger generation.

^Having lived through the Michael phenomenon in the eighties and never buying anything THEN, I doubt I'll be buying anything now! I already have all the Jackson's stuff I like downloaded on my ipod anyway. It's funny all the people just discovering him. I didn't think he was that under the radar! ;)

Same here, but all Beatles on my iPod.  ;)

I liked The Jackson 5 and The Osmonds (who sounded identical) way back then.  Michael Jackson made some great videos, but I can watch those on Youtube should I have the desire.  He was definitely on the radar screen for a good long time and made his contribution to that genre of music.  He'll be missed by many.

As for me, I prefer to remember him as one of The Jackson 5 singing and prancing around the stage in his Superfly hat.  What talent for a kid that age!

During his solo career, the song and video that impressed me most was Black Or White.  He made a timeless statement.

Exactly! He was an amazing kid. I just love that hat! It's so adorable. Now when I see him dancing around in it, it just breaks my heart.

I liked that one and Man in the Mirror. There were a few songs that showed his depth. But people wouldn't allow it for very long.

It would be a pitty if he only becomes identified with the megga success of the 80's , i personally only like Billie Jean and Beat It , from that period and nothing much there after .
The 70's period seems much more impressive to me, he certainly recorded more material in that decade which i would say gives a better overview of his talent and that of his brothers .
A friend told me to checkout the Jacksons 1978 album Destiny which he says is a great disco album , so i've put that on my list to track down .
Can't see i would move beyond the 70's stuff , the weirdness of the 80's as a macabre fascination for me but the music pretty much leaves me cold . :)
