If only he was alive to slap Yoko's ass around for this. Weren't they supposed to be in love? Now she's using his legacy to her adventage. You can't blame Nike though, they're greedy corporate bas tards.
Lennon Teams With Nike
(08/24/04) -- Thanks to his widow, Yoko Ono, Nike will launch a new line of tennis shoes focused on late Beatle John Lennon. Nike's campaign will feature a recreation of the Beatles' 1969 masterpiece Abbey Road, which shows Lennon donning a pair of white shoes. Lennon's signature will be inscribed on the heel of the sneakers, and lyrics from the song "Imagine" will be scrawled on the toes. Before you start throwing up, remember that all proceeds from the line of shoes will be donated to charity.
Well, at least all the money they make will go to charity. But you really have to wonder if this is going to far, or if John would approve. I generally stick up for Yoko (and I don't think this is a matter of whether or not she loved/loves him, because no one really knows that but Yoko), but this is just...strange. A shoe? Whatever. And remember, Nike is the same corporation that used "Revolution" in their commercials back in the 90's. I wouldn't put anything past them.
And would you buy it, if given the chance?
