Now that I think of it, my apron was white, too. I never made sundaes but I carried a lot of them. Those Reese's Pieces Sundaes with the five scoops of ice cream, served in the enormous dish, were heavy!
I can imagine! They were hard to even lift off the counter.
We found a Friendly's in Myrtle Beach, and I was so thrilled. We had lunch there (plus dessert, of course), and it was delicious. I thought they had gone out of business, but apparently they have lots of locations on the East coast. (One more reason to miss the East.)
Other than that uniform, was Wegman's a good place to work then?
They were OK. From what I read online, they are one of the top-rated places to work now. Back then (mid-80s) our store got a front-end manager who was a complete b****, and a lot of people, including me, quit.[/quote]

Those shirts are 'way cuter than what we had to wear! Now that I think of it, the brown polyester shirts were actually tunics. <shudder> Unflattering fit, unflattering color, gross fabric.
