LOL!

OK.. erm... What was the first UK Parlophone single to include a song by a non-Beatle composer (clue: it was a B-side)

That was probably Twist And Shout, released in 1976.

Yep,  you're right - the A-side was Back In The USSR. The two tracks were taken from The Beatles' "Rock 'n' Roll Music" double LP.

Your turn... :)

The famous Paul McCartney...

With whom visited Brian Epstein the Cavern on that famous day in November 1961, when he met The Beatles?

OK - who recorded the ORIGINAL version of Twist And Shout?

It's not as easy as you might think! :)

And here's a bonus point - what is the link between the original song and The Beatles.

I always thought it was The Isley Brothers. The link? Ehm, The Beatles also did 'Shout'?

I knew I got it wrong, for The Isley Brothers was too obvious. I see the link is that Phil Spector produced crap on both The Top Nots and the Beatles.

Ha ha! Yeah, good point!

That Top Notes version sounds almost like a doo-wop song - it's really bad!
It's co-composer, Bert Burns (AKA Bert Russel), hated it too so he decided to re-cut the track and produce the song himself - that was the Isley's version we all know and love!

You happened to know the Mama's And The Papa's version of Twist And Shout? Although I really like other MATP's songs, this is really bad taste...

I think we may have already had this one but... I think the 1st US cover was by Del Shannon with From Me To You, 1st UK cover was MIsery by Kenny Lynch but I'm not sure that either charted too well.

Billy J Kramer and the Dakota's had the first MAJOR success with Do You Want To Know A Secret though I believe.
