Hello all,
I just joined up on this forum a few weeks ago. I currently live in the sunny climes of Florida, USA. I originally lived in Maryland. I've been a Beatles fan since January, 1964, which means...I am older now.
I discovered the Beatles in a two-step process. My local record store had a big sign in the front window: "The Beatles Are Coming!" Okay, big deal. So what? I few days later, my "local deejay" played, without an introduction, a record that began with tom-toms, followed by jangly guitars and tight harmony. It was "She Loves You", and I was hooked before the record was over. Yes, it was a BIG DEAL!
So I saw them on Sullivan, bought all their records, watched the cartoons, went to their movies, read all the magazines, saw them in concert etc. I own a huge library of Beatle-related books, magazine articles, and other bits of printed knowledge. At one time, I could whip anybody's butt in Beatles trivia. I once won a Beatles-trivia contest in the 1970's that was done, Jeopardy-style. The answer: November 21, 1941. The question: When was Pete Best born? The end game involved looking at pictures of the Lads from different time periods and naming the date the photo was taken. Whoever came the closest, won. Heh-heh. Too easy.
Any road, sometimes I may post messages that are based on my memories rather than documented sources. Please feel free to point out if I am factually wrong. No offense will be taken. I'm usually right, but I've also been proven wrong from time to time. I'll just hand my "Certificate of Accomplishment" from the trivia contest over to you.
Oh, and having been influenced by the Lads sense of humor, when in doubt, read my posts twice to make sure I'm not just being a cheeky smartass. No offense intended.
See you on the forums.
