How many official videos did they make?
« on: February 14, 2007, 06:21:25 PM »

I've been wondering how many offical videos did they release during their time as a group? Also about the videos for "Strawberry Fields Forever" & "Penny Lane", I seen a video where it said that these 2 videos were the first ever released for the group as a promotion to their music. Were they both the 1st videos all of time to promote their music? Today everyone needs a video to promote their music and it would be something special and another First for the beatles.

anyone with a list of all the videos released in a timeline of sorts, thx!

From memory (so it might be a bit wrong!!) there were official promo films made for the following (they often made more than one promo for the same song):

(Excluding footage extracted from their films and used as a promo)
I Feel Fine
Ticket To Ride
Help!
We Can Work It Out
Day Tripper
Paperback Writer
Rain
Strawberry Fields Forever
Penny Lane
All You Need Is Love (this was the Our World broadcast)
Hello Goodbye (they were forced to make various versions of this due to new performing rights rules)
Lady Madonna (filmed at EMI recording Hey Bulldog)
Hey Jude + Revolution - semi-live appearance for the David Frost show - dunno if this counts as a promo!
Ballad Of John And Yoko
Something
Movie Medley
Love Me Do (re-issue)
Please Please Me (re-issue)
Baby It's You
Free As A Bird
Real Love
Hey Bulldog - the footage recorded for the Lady Madonna promo re-edited to match with the song they were actually recording.

Please feel free to let me know of any errors or omissions!!!

The first real promo videos were for Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out in that they were sent out to promote the new single and replace a lot of TV performances.
Help,I Feel Fine and Ticket To Ride were either extracts from a film ( in which case you could include several songs from Hard Day's Night) or made after the fact for retrospective TV programmes (Christmas Top Of The Pops).

Other than that I think The End's list looks complete.Hey Jude and Revolution definitely qualify as promo videos in that they were filmed at Twickenham film studios to give the impression of being live.Hey Jude, for example, was made up of two different takes. If you look closely you can see that some of the people in the crowd change position from one shot to another!
