The Golden Compass
« on: December 06, 2007, 08:54:24 PM »

Have just been to see  " The Golden Compass " this afternoon . I thought it was brilliant film  loved it, Nicol Kidman is great in it even though im not a fan of her's she is evil in it , a great performance.
The CGI effects are top notch the Polar Bear and it's fight scenes are stunning .And best of all Kate Bush supplies a really haunting theme song  " Lyra " one of her best songs in years .
Anyone else seen this film ?  i give  " 9 out of 10 " can't wait for the other two books to be filmed . :)

I am becoming a fan of Ms Kidman, having avoided her for years. The Others was excellent, as was The Hours. What are the books Dave? I'm afraid I know nothing of them.

The films are based on Philip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy BlueMeanie   " Northen Lights " "The Subtle Knife " and  " The Amber Spyglass ".
Kidman plays Mrs Coulter and she's brilliant . The films got a great cast Daiel Craig ,Christopher Lee ,Derek Jacobi , Tom ,Courtney ,Eva Green and Stockard Channing .
The Polar Bear  " Iorek " is voiced by Sir Ian Mckellan and it steals the show it's a great creation . :)
