11 minute Revolution#1 turns up on Youtube

"This amazing 11-minute version of Revolution has surfaced in the last few days. It's truly astounding and bridges the gap between Revolution #1 and #9. Select 'High Quality' in the options below the player to get the best sound quality out of this.

Now, if someone can come up with the full-length, 30-minute 'Helter Skelter' and 'Carnival Of Light' we can all die happy! Peace and love to all Beatle-people. Enjoy the show!! "

That's awesome. I LOVE the ending. Very, very, very cool. They were SOOO ahead of their time. Anyone who has the nerve to call them overrated is just insane. I can't get over their genius.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but is this a certified Beatle product, or a mashup by a fan?

A mashup of what? Sounds all Beatles to me. But, I only listened once. It sounds cool no matter what it is.

What I meant was a computer with music editing software, and the two songs, one on each track. Or any one of a number of similar things. Then blend together according to taste.

If it is a true Beatles product, that might be what John did - take home some takes of Revolution #1, and blend them with the rest of his and Yoko's ideas and call it  #9.

Harder to do in those days, you needed multiple tape recorders, etc.

All I can add is that I think I have a very nice signature. And you should check the bootleg section more often.  :)

This is a true Beatles product and a genuine take of Revolution #1. It was released recently as a bootleg on the label HMC. Check Lewisohn's Recording Sessions, page 136. June 4, 1968. The most interesting bit of this take that it makes clear that there is indeed a connection between Revolution #1 and Revolution #9.

I think it's a very clever mashup with some fake stuff thrown in, notably the voices at the beginning and the end.
Good fun though!

This is no mash up Alexis. Some of us have been waiting for this to come out for a long time. The take itself has been released in a shorter version before, and it's also talked about by Lewisohn.

Btw, you can grab the FLAC file from the bootleg forum.

It's created from a genuine out-take maybe, but the voice at the beginning (with the knickers) has been added on and is definitely not one of the Beatles. This is also true of the voice at the very end. Yoko's part from the end of the released Revolution 9 has also been flown in with the sudden arrival of the piano.
The Mama - Dadas may be the real thing but Lewisohn says they're sung by Paul and George and I can't hear the two of them.
So I still think it's a clever manipulation. And it's not because it's appeared on a bootleg that one can say that it's genuine since bootlegs also include fakes from time to time.

No. Stuff was taken from this take of Revolution, and used in Rev #9. That's pretty well known.

Yes, very nice signature. And I need to visit the Bootleg Forum now that I have a high speed connection. Stayed away from it before because it took forever to download anything! Forgot how to get in though. Anyone?

With all the other Revolutions released, why didn't this one ever see the light of day? It's brilliant. And much easier to take than #9.

I didn't say Rev 9 didn't use stuff from the original long version of Revolution. I'm just saying this is not that original take.

And you didn't address any of the main problems concerning the voices, the Mama - Dada stuff and the sudden intrusion of the piano and Yoko.

But I know you don't like arguing Blue Meanie so I think we should just leave it there.
