Thanks for welcome, everyone!  The Beatles were a HUGE influence on the 60s, culturally and musicially.   I haven't seen anything quite like it since!

Quote from: 1848I'm new here so I thought this would be a good place to begin.  I discovered the Beatles in 1964, when my older sister became a fan.  She even took me to the premiere of A Hard Day's Night at our local theatre.  I think I was only little kid there.....and the teenage girls screamed throughout the entire film!  I still have the ticket stub in an old scrapbook.
welcome to the forums deb...enjoy!!!

Thanks!   This is an amazing place for Beatles fans!  I can't believe how much is here......it will take me a long time to catch up since I only discovered it a couple of weeks ago.

I'm like a few of the other posters here.............older brother indoctrinated my twin sis and I in the mid-sixties as to exactly who The Fabs were!  What an incredible favor he did us ;) Never have looked back after all this time........and to his credit, he widened my horizons beyond the British Invasion to "southern rock", prog-rock (which I'm crazy about), and so much more! The best part was living it all and remembering hearing "Hey Jude" on the radio when it was number 1 for countless weeks, and mourning their break-up...............
.....it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong I'm right, where I belong I'm right, where I belong.....

I discovered the beatles because of  my mom.. She used to sing beatles while doing house chores.. I eventually get to her their music and oh boy they are really great..

I had a Beatles phase back in second grade, but it basically just consisted of AHDN and Help! My dad once rented the movie, I walked in on him watching it, and he said he had the CD and we rented the movie over and over. That lasted a little while, then I fell out of it, as second graders are wont to do...

Flash forward to eighth grade, 2004. I was downloading a bunch of songs, mainly Linkin Park and other crap I liked like that, and on a whim I decided to download Hey Jude, which I'd heard was the greatest song ever. I heard it, and I was fascinated. Went to the library to check out whatever CD Hey Jude was on, found Anthology 3 and gave it a listen. I realised after a little bit that it wasn't just a hits compilation but rather a studio outtakes record. In retrospect that gave me a strange introduction.

This was in February, and the 40th anniversary of the Ed Sullivan show was approaching. I think somewhere I got Rubber Soul on cassette from the library and gave it a few listens, all the while doing what I often do with things I'm interested in: read about them on the internet. A lot. My girlfriend of the time got me "The First US Visit" DVD for Valentine's, and my parents bought me Pepper. I was completely hooked.

A friend of mine who was a Beatles fanatic burned Rubber Soul, Revolver, Let It Be, and Help for me, and this just fueled my desire even more. Just before spring break my dad bought me Abbey Road, and I listened to that so many times. I believe I got the White Album that summer. Then over the fall months I either received as gifts or went out and bought the rest of the studio albums, including the ones I previously just had burned. Quite simply, my world revolved around The Beatles. I started to delve into their solo work, and saw Paul in concert in October of '05.  I took a bit of a break--as in I wasn't listening to them constantly. I started to discover other stuff (especially Bob Dylan and the Beach Boys, and the Stones) and put The Beatles on the backburner, always coming back to them every once in a while.

Fast forward to a couple of years later and I start getting that Beatles urge again. I go see American English at a nearby town fair, and finally make my way to Beatlefest in Chicago. I guess that's about it. I'm currently watching the Director's Cut of the Anthology on Youtube and starting to track down some of the solo albums I don't already have.

I've never met anyone in real life who knows as much about them as I do.

First of all, welcome to everyone who is new on here, I hope you enjoy it here! QuarryMen89, I also became a fan when I was in eighth grade, and now I'm in 11th grade and 17. After I discovered the Beatles, I also then discovered Dylan, the Stones, Beach Boys, and Hendrix and stuff. So what Beatles solo albums do you have so far?

Hello!
I am new to this forum  :)
Just wanted to say how I "discovered" the Beatles. I actually did not discover them, they have always been there. I mean ever since I was born (which happened only 18 years ago) I have always known the Beatles and listened to them occasionally. However, I only recently got really obsessed with them, so here I am. Not the most interesting story, eh. But it's good to be here  ;D
