One of the first songs to use the term rock and roll:

Wild Bill Moore, 1948

I like Gunter Lee Hill's 1951 version better though:

Turn Turn Turn mono vinyl.  I bought the first 5 Byrds records in glorious 60s mono from Sundazed Records.  Mr. Tambourine Man sounds great and the pressings are nice and quiet so far.  McGuinn's 12 string is more in your face in mono than in stereo.

Pixies, anything and everything. This band has made me fall in love with rock 'n' roll again.

The term "roll" had some sexual implications back in those days, Kelley.  This song was banned by some radio stations in 1955...

Etta James - The Wallflower (Roll with Me Henry)

Etta James reworked the lyrics in 1958 to get radio airplay...

...Roll in the hay?

Ha! That's exactly what I was going to say! I figured that euphemism out a long time ago, at the dinner table as a matter of fact. My mom asked my dad if he wanted a roll and he said, "Not now; I'm kind of tired". I didn't know why she gave him a dirty look or why he was too tired for bread until I pondered it for a while. LOL
