I think this Hitchcock box set is brilliant you get 10 films .
The Lodger ,The 39 Steps ,Sabotage,Young and Innocent ,The Lady Vanishes and Jamaica Inn , have all been digitally restored the picture and sound quility is superb .
I only had a copy of 39 Steps on DVD prior to this release , so i'm seeing these films for the first time in many years .
I watched The Lady Vanishes yesterday afternoon and i must say the restoration of this film is outstanding , last time i saw this on TV it was such a bad copy it was so grainy and scratched , but this version has brought the film back to life , this 70 year old film now looks and sounds wonderful .
The Lady Vanishes i think is one of Hitchcocks best films the acting ,script and directing are fantastic you can see why Hollywood wanted him , it's a masterclass in film making Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave the leads are every bit as good as Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in the Hollywood films in my opinion , they just sparkle in every scene .
There are some great extra's also inparticular the "Aquarius " documentery Alfred The Great which is a 60 minute film of Hitchcock on the set of "Frenzy" you see Hitchcock in 70's London directing this film , he's also interviewed at length in the studio about is life and films and it's in colour .
I bought this collection at HMV for 25 pounds , which i think is outstanding value .
Well worth the money .(smile)(thumbsup)
