I can.  More than just desiring a traditional Bridget Bardot-like blonde, John wanted and needed someone who was his artistic collaborator, soul mate and intellectual match.

She was alright.  Hotter than Yoko, anyway, tho that is purely a subjective opinion.

Cynthia was the neighborhood girl that got knocked up, not much more.  She loved John and tried to make things work, but neither of them were ready for what it took to be a Beatle (hell, the world wasn't either).  He never was 'in love' with her, theirs was a typical arrangement of parentage for an out-of-wedlock child.

Yoko was indeed more of a spiritual and mental challenge for him, and she did catch him when he was in his most vulnerable period.  Still, he seemed attracted to her all his life so for whatever reason(s) she appealed to him where Cyn didn't.

But don't sell Cynthia short, she was just every-girl who turned into every-wife yet was caught up in the maelstrom of the 60's and specifically the Fab's existence.

Has anyone read her autobiography? How does John come off in it? I wonder if she sounds bitter. Anyway, if this topic was already discussed sorry, but I'm too lazy to look for it!

If Yoko were these, we're selling John short.

Because he was young, speaking as a young-person myself, you don't know what you want, and you play the field, and John and Cynthia's marrage was, like Chrarlie said, because Cyn got knocked up. So I don't think, in all honesty, he planned to spend the rest of his life with her, but married her because he got her pregnate. Whereas Yoko was his love who he felt a connection with mentally and he felt that she was the person he had been looking for. And if that was his belief then more power to him.

Amen.

And about the two women's looks, beauty's in the eye of the beholder. While I personally think Cyn looked more attractive than Yoko in their prime, she wasn't "all that" either (as the saying goes). And she could match Yoko frown for frown in the "I seldom smile" sweepstakes.

As one matures (as John did) they hopefully get past the "who's hottest" thing when choosing a soulmate.

Does one actually 'choose' a soulmate?  Just curious.

John slept with thousands and thousands of beautiful ripe girl-women.

He chose Yoko.

It's not like he had to settle or anything.

Let's not get hung up on semantics. You know what I mean, and you even agree. John chose the woman who best fulfilled him. [/quote]

Yes, Joe, I was just ruminating.
